My presentation is titled: You say you want this, so then why are you doing that? Here's the description:
If we can agree that there is a good chunk of the population that hated their time in school, then we need to think about how we can make school a little less like school. If the consensus among educators and parents is that we want lifelong learners then we need to play a little game called "You say you want this, so then why are you doing that?"If you're comfortable with engaging in a little cognitive dissonance while rethinking school, then I hope you can join me for this session.

My Abolishing & Replacing Grading Presentation is archived
I had a blast participating in the 2010 Reform Symposium as both a presenter and a member of the audience. Eluminate, Twitter, blogging and other on line learning tools are making the limits of time and place more and more obsolete everyday.
Because so many politicians and policy makers are dead-set on pushing their test and punish accountability regimes that turn children into data, it will be up to educators to reclaim their professionalism.
Symposiums and conferences that are built on the backs of educators dedicating their very own time and effort will need to play a critically important part in educators collaborating with educators to save education.
You can view my Abolishing and Replacing Grading presentation here. Here are the links that supplement my talk.
I would also like to suggest you look at George Couros and Shelly Blake-Plock's presentations. Over the coming days, I will have more suggestions.

Reform Symposium
I'm pleased to be presenting at the Reform Symposium 2010 which is a world wide e-conference. The entire conference in online.
I am presenting on Sunday, August 1, 2010, at 9:30 am MST. I am providing a 30 minute session on Abolishing and Replacing Grading. I am very passionate about removing grading
Session Description:
Are you tired of students asking you: "What's this question out of?" or "Is this for marks?" Ever been frustrated with students who see every learning experience you provide for them as just another chore? Have you experienced disappointment with students who continually avoid challenges and choose the lazy way out of learning? Have you felt discouraged with grade grabbing students who are unhappy even when they get 99%? If you can relate to any of these questions, this session is for you! Please join me during this session. Because 30 minutes is not a very long time, I intend on offering attendees an opportunity to continue the discussion through other means.
I hope you can make it!
