Reform Symposium 3

I am thrilled to be presenting at the third instalment of The Reform Symposium which is a free world-wide e-conference.

I am presenting on July 29, 2011, at 14:00 Mountain Standard Time (UTC-6).

My presentation is titled: You say you want this, so then why are you doing that? Here's the description:

If we can agree that there is a good chunk of the population that hated their time in school, then we need to think about how we can make school a little less like school. If the consensus among educators and parents is that we want lifelong learners then we need to play a little game called "You say you want this, so then why are you doing that?"
If you're comfortable with engaging in a little cognitive dissonance while rethinking school, then I hope you can join me for this session.

Here is a quick 2 minute introduction to my presentation:

  1. Dan Siegel relies on a lot of research on interpersonal neural biology to show that education reform should include focus on the 3 Rs relationship, reflection and resilience . As Alfie Kohn says school should be also about social-moral learning buiding a caring , responsible community of learners
