Connected Principals' Conversation

The Connected Principals are hosting an Eluminate conversation on Sunday, September 26, from 5:30-6:30 pm (EST).

To jump-start the conversation, George Couros is asking for you and me to start the conversation by asking a couple questions. Here are mine:

1. As school leaders what do you do to encourage your teachers, students and parents to subvert standardized testing?

2. What do you do to actively encourage kids and teachers to work together democratically?

3. How do you re-educate misguided parents who didn't like school themselves but demand double the dose of old school for their kids?

4. If I said to you there was a war going on between constructivism and behaviourism and the kids are losing - how would you respond?

Do you have a response to these questions? If so, leave a comment.

  1. 1. Ask employers what qualities they look for in employees. Not as good (but easier): find some ads for jobs and make a list of the qualities employers seek. Then ask teachers, students, and parents how testing contributes or detracts from schools' ability to prepare students for the future.
