Chasing them away

If school is about inspiring students to become passionate, life-long learners, you would think we would devise a concluding activity to our classes with this in mind.

Instead, we have final exams.

Instead of creating an environment that would empower students to want to learn more, we give them a test that has them desperate for it all to be over with. Instead of encouraging them to learn more, we chase them away.

This doesn't make sense to me.

  1. Good point. Practically, how do we change that?

  2. I want to try and memorize this just to recite it to people who think school is the best thing that happened for kids and that they just need to suck it up and realize everyone goes through it and it's what makes them smart.
