Oscar Pistorius at the 2012 Olympics
Oscar Pistorius is the first athlete to participate in both the Olympics and Paralympics. I will be using this with my students when we discuss rethinking failure and resiliency.
His disability in one sense is ability ' the South African double-amputee, runs on artificial carbon-fibre legs that each weigh less than half of what a normal fleshy limb would do. With this lighter load, he can swing his legs around 20% faster than a runner with intact limbs, moving at the same speed.'
Crazy. I like to show motivational videos. This reminds me of the young wrestler who won the Dick Vitale Award at the Espy's a year ago. Incredible heart and determination!
Hi Joe!
ReplyDeleteSeriously, we could use Oscar Pistorius as a model for almost anything that we want our kids to learn. He is one amazing man!
