We live in a society that believes we are progressing culturally yet we also ponder lost perfections. There never is a simple answer to what to retain and what to relinquish in education. Add to this a nagging feeling that one paradigm might not be any better than another. Your right, we have to mediate past, present, and future goals knowing that the past was not irrational, the present always purposeful, or the future comprehensible.
